Aims and scope

The journal publishes methods, benchmarks and applications in computational and systems biology. We give particular weight to benchmark studies and to software notes describing tools that others can actually run.

We assess manuscripts on whether the question matters, whether the method answers it, and whether the reporting is complete enough for someone else to check. We do not assess them on how surprising the result is, and a well-conducted study reporting no effect is as publishable here as one reporting a large one.

Peer review

Single-anonymised review. Reviewers see the authors; authors do not see the reviewers. Code and data must be available to reviewers at submission, and publicly on acceptance.

Each manuscript is handled by an associate editor who selects reviewers, and the final decision rests with the editor-in-chief. 3 reports are required before a decision, and reviewers are given 21 days. Reviewers are reminded before the due date and again if it passes; where a report is very late the editor may proceed without it rather than leave authors waiting indefinitely.

Full detail, including what we do about conflicts of interest and how authors may appeal, is in the peer review policy.

Editorial board

Before this page goes live: list only people who have agreed in writing to serve, with their real affiliations. Naming someone who has not consented is a misrepresentation that follows the title around, and it is one of the fastest routes to a DOAJ rejection.

Associate Editors
TODO — name, affiliation, subject area — one line each
Managing Editor
TODO — name, editorial office contact

Automatic waiver
Full waiver for corresponding authors in Research4Life Group A countries, applied without a request

Submitting

SACB is preparing to launch. Submission opens with the first call for papers; until then, write to editorial@scientara.org with a proposal or an expression of interest.
