Open access publishing
Five journals, one editorial standard.
Scientara publishes open access research across materials, medicine, computational biology, energy and the environment. Every journal states its review model on its own page. Where an author and a reviewer both agree, the reports are published alongside the article, with their own DOIs, so a reader can see the argument that produced it.

Scientara Journal of Materials Science
The journal publishes original research and critical reviews across metals, ceramics, polymers and composites, with particular interest in work that connects processing to structure and to measured properties.

Scientara Reviews in Clinical Medicine
The journal publishes systematic reviews, clinical research and appraisals of clinical guidelines.

The journal publishes methods, benchmarks and applications in computational and systems biology.

A letters journal for timely results in energy conversion, storage and systems.

Scientara Journal of Environmental Studies
The journal publishes environmental research spanning measurement, modelling and policy, with a standing interest in long-term monitoring datasets and in work that reports what restoration and mitigation actually achieved.
What we commit to
These are not aspirations. They are how the platform is built, and where a promise is enforced by the system rather than by good intentions, we say so.
- Decisions are editorial
- Editors cannot see whether an author has paid. Payment records are not returned to an editorial account at all, and no article is held in production over an unpaid invoice.
- Anonymity is enforced, not requested
- On a double-anonymised journal, a reviewer's account cannot retrieve author identity by any route, including the manuscript file. The anonymised copy is generated by the platform, not by the author.
- Reviewers are credited
- Review records can be pushed to ORCID. Where reports are published they receive a DOI and are citable.
- Nothing is quietly withdrawn
- Corrections, expressions of concern and retractions are published as separate items with their own DOIs. The original article stays online and citable, marked.
- Time to first decision
- Published per journal, updated quarterly, including the months we miss the target.
For authors
Submission opens with each journal's first call for papers. In the meantime, the author guidelines describe what we will ask for, and the policies set out licensing, fees, waivers and ethics in full.
